Job summary

Johnson Matthey Plc is seeking a Metal Accountant to join our global metals business. You will prepare and maintain precise precious metal accounting records, reconcile inventories, and support hedging, settlements and intercompany transactions.

You will collaborate with Commercial, Supply Chain and finance teams to ensure accuracy, drive process improvements and uphold internal controls in a hybrid working environment.

Qualifications

• University degree qualification
• Accounting Standards: apply knowledge of applicable Accounting Standards and Cost
• Microsoft Office and knowledge of SAP
• Strong analytical and communication skills
• Significant experience embedding compliance to accounting policies and controls in a global organization
• Ability to work collaboratively and provide appropriate challenge and insight, often under time pressure

Responsibilities

• Prepare and maintain accurate precious metal accounting records, including monthly reconciliations, journal entries, and Metal Trial Balance reporting.
• Monitor and reconcile metal inventories, hedging activities, customer metal balances, and coverage processes to ensure financial accuracy and compliance.
• Collaborate with Commercial, Supply Chain, and global business teams to identify metal requirements, manage metal borrowing/hedging activities, and support intercompany transactions.
• Manage precious metal working capital and inventory processes, including stock takes, forecasting inputs, and analysis of metal variances.
• Support audit and compliance activities by ensuring timely resolution of metal-related findings, accurate process order closures, and adherence to internal controls.

The role:

As a Metal Accountant, you will help drive our goals by:
