Johnson Matthey is seeking a Financial Analyst to join a world leader in platinum group metals with over 200 years of history. As a Financial Analyst, you’ll help tackle global challenges by applying, refining and recycling metals that matter for a healthier, more sustainable, circular future.

You will support budgeting, forecasting and long-range planning for plant cost centres, provide variance analysis and deliver clear management reporting on production and overhead costs.

Qualifications

• University degree qualification and a professional accounting qualification such as ACA, CIMA or equivalent.
• Strong experience in management accounting, cost analysis and financial planning within manufacturing.
• Understanding of production costing, variance analysis and financial performance drivers.

Responsibilities

• Support budgeting, forecasting and long-range planning for plant cost centres, including headcount and people costs.
• Provide timely variance analysis, cost reporting and forecasting insights during month-end close.
• Deliver clear management reporting on production and overhead costs, including Monthly Operating Report submissions.
• Partner with plant operations and finance stakeholders to identify trends, risks and opportunities through detailed analysis.
• Review production costs, standard cost allocations and cost variances to support improved business performance.
• Build strong relationships across operational, commercial and technical teams to support accurate financial reporting.

The role:

• Support budgeting, forecasting and long-range planning activities for plant cost centres, including headcount and people costs.
• Provide timely variance analysis, cost reporting and forecasting insights throughout the month-end close process.
• Deliver clear management reporting on production and overhead costs, including Monthly Operating Report submissions.
• Partner with plant operations and finance stakeholders to identify trends, risks and opportunities through detailed analysis.
• Review production costs, standard cost allocations and cost variances to support improved business performance.
• Build strong relationships across operational, commercial and technical teams to support accurate financial reporting.

Key skills that will help you succeed in this role:

• University degree qualification and a professional accounting qualification such as ACA, CIMA or equivalent.
• Strong experience in management accounting, cost analysis and financial planning within manufacturing.
• Understanding of production costing, variance analysis and financial performance drivers.
• Ability to challenge constructively, influence stakeholders and provide actionable business insights.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
• Experience within the chemicals, automotive or related industrial sectors would be advantageous.
