Auto Skills UK is seeking an experienced Multi-Skilled Head MET in Brackley to lead the MET department, combining hands-on technical expertise with strong leadership. You will coordinate MET activity, support technicians and work with the wider bodyshop to ensure vehicles progress efficiently and repairs meet high standards.

The role offers a competitive salary up to £48,000, Monday to Friday 08:30–17:00, and a permanent, full-time contract in a modern workshop.

Responsibilities

THE ROLE

As an Experienced Multi-Skilled Head MET, you will take a lead role within the MET department, combining strong hands-on technical expertise with leadership responsibility. You will help coordinate MET activity, support and guide technicians, and work closely with the wider bodyshop team to ensure vehicles progress efficiently and repairs are completed to the highest possible standards.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and support the MET operation, coordinating workloads and ensuring work is completed efficiently and to a high standard
• Provide technical leadership, guidance and support to MET technicians within the department
• Carry out complex Mechanical, Electrical and Trim removal, repair and refitting on accident-damaged vehicles
• Use strong mechanical knowledge to diagnose faults and carry out repairs involving suspension, steering, braking and associated vehicle systems
• Work closely with Panel Technicians, Paint Technicians, VDA/Estimators and Workshop Controllers to maintain efficient vehicle throughput
• Identify additional damage or repair requirements and communicate these clearly to the relevant team members
• Ensure technicians follow correct manufacturer repair methods and maintain consistently high-quality workmanship
• Maintain compliance with bodyshop quality standards and Health & Safety procedures

ABOUT YOU

We're looking for an experienced Multi-Skilled MET Technician who has the technical ability, mechanical knowledge and leadership skills required to take responsibility for the MET operation.

The successful candidate must have:

• Proven experience as an MET Technician within an automotive accident repair centre or bodyshop
• Proven leadership skills and the confidence to lead, support and develop other technicians
• Strong mechanical experience and technical knowledge
• Strong Mechanical, Electrical and Trim knowledge
• Excellent understanding of suspension, steering and braking systems
• Strong diagnostic and mechanical fault-finding abilities
• Experience with complex strip and refit procedures
• Strong knowledge of modern vehicle construction and accident repair methods
• Ability to provide technical guidance and resolve repair-related issues
• Strong understanding of repair quality and Health & Safety requirements
• Excellent attention to detail with a commitment to first-class workmanship
• Organised, reliable and professional approach to work
• Confident communicator with the ability to work effectively across a busy bodyshop
• Strong team player with a positive and proactive leadership approach
• Ideally IMI and/or ATA qualified (advantageous but not essential)
• Full UK Driving Licence preferred
