Job summary

LJ.B & Co. Construction Recruitment is seeking an experienced MEP Lead for an on-site role in Blyth, Northumberland.

You will oversee the full lifecycle of MEP systems for a data centre, coordinating with design teams and subcontractors to ensure quality, safety, and compliance with project requirements. The role requires a degree-level qualification and 10+ years of experience on large-scale construction projects, including data centres, with valid UK work eligibility.

Responsibilities

• Oversee full lifecycle delivery of Mechanical, Electrical and Public Health systems for data centres.
• Coordinate with designers, consultants and subcontractors to review drawings and resolve technical queries.
• Lead on-site MEP work, inspections, safety and programme adherence.
• Manage MEP sequencing and interfaces with architectural, structural and commissioning teams.
• Direct testing, commissioning and handover to meet data centre operational standards.

MEP Lead - Data Centre - Blyth, Northumberland

Our client is a dedicated Data Centre Construction company providing turnkey solutions to our clients, headquartered in Dublin and delivering throughout Europe. As an engineering-focused organisation, they have grown to become one of the leading and most trusted companies in our sector.

We are pleased to announce that we are currently seeking an experienced MEP Lead to join their team. This position will be based on-site in Blyth, Northumberland.

Responsibilities

• MEP Project Oversight
  Lead the full lifecycle delivery of Mechanical, Electrical, and Public Health systems, ensuring all installations meet data centre performance, quality, and safety standards.
• Design & Technical Coordination
  Work closely with designers, consultants, and specialist subcontractors to review drawings, resolve technical queries, and ensure constructability and compliance with project requirements.
• Site Management & Compliance
  Monitor MEP works on site, conduct regular inspections, and ensure all activities follow programme timelines, local regulations, and strict safety protocols.
• Planning, Scheduling & Interface Control
  Manage MEP sequencing, track critical-path activities, and coordinate interfaces with architectural, structural, and commissioning teams to maintain smooth project delivery.
• Testing, Commissioning & Handover
  Oversee system testing and commissioning processes, ensure robust QA/QC documentation, and support final handover of all MEP systems to meet stringent data centre operational standards.

Requirements

• Must have relevant degree level qualification or equivalent trades background
• Must have 10+ years previous experience in a similar role on large scale construction projects including Data Centres
• Must have UK Passport or RTW in the UK
