Job summary

Matchtech is seeking an MEP Lead in Blyth, England, with responsibility to guide a cross-discipline team on large data centre projects. The role is on-site in the UK, with a 10/4 rotation and eligible accommodation, travel, and allowances.

The ideal candidate will have 10+ years in MEP construction, strong leadership, and a deep understanding of MEP coordination, sequencing, and commissioning processes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical/Electrical Building Services or related field.
• 10+ years' MEP construction experience with strong leadership background.
• Proven experience leading mechanical and electrical systems on large-scale projects.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of Mechanical and Electrical Engineers and Construction Managers.
• Coordinate with contracts managers, site engineers, and discipline leads to ensure timely information and quality.
• Review drawings and specifications to ensure understanding and communicate errors to the design team promptly.
• Propose design changes to improve cost efficiency, construction programme, and quality.

As the leading and most trusted dedicated data centre delivery partner in Europe, our client is currently seeking an MEP Lead to join their team in the UK.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of Mechanical and Electrical Engineers and Construction Managers.
• Propose suitable design changes to improve cost efficiency, streamline the construction programme, and enhance specifications and quality completion.
• Display commercial astuteness in all project dealings.
• Monitor construction activities regarding the quality of workmanship and materials.
• Coordinate and liaise with contracts managers, site engineers, and other discipline leads to ensure subcontractors and site personnel receive timely and accurate information.
• Review drawings and specifications to ensure complete understanding, ensuring any errors or omissions are formally communicated to the design team promptly.

Skills & Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Building Services, or a similar discipline.
• 10+ years of experience within the MEP construction sector, backed by a strong leadership background.
• Proven experience in managing Mechanical and Electrical systems on large-scale construction projects.
• Strong knowledge of MEP coordination, sequencing, and programme delivery.
• Excellent leadership, organisational, and communication skills.
• Strong technical understanding of MEP systems, installation methodologies, and commissioning processes.
• Proven ability to lead subcontractors and multidisciplinary teams to successfully deliver projects.
• Previous data centre project experience is highly desirable.
