Job summary

Falcon Green Personnel, in partnership with a leading European Tier 1 Main Contractor, seeks an experienced MEP Lead to oversee mechanical, electrical and public health packages on a major hyperscale data centre project in Northumberland, UK.

You will lead delivery across MEP, coordinate with design teams and subcontractors, manage procurement, and drive commissioning and handover, while ensuring safety, programme, and quality standards are met on a demanding, long-running programme.

Qualifications

• Degree or related qualification in Mechanical, Electrical or Building Services Engineering.
• Proven experience as MEP Lead/Senior MEP Manager on large-scale construction projects.
• Experience in data centre, mission critical, pharma, or large commercial projects desirable.

Responsibilities

• Lead delivery of all MEP packages across the project.
• Manage MEP subcontractors and keep works to programme, budget, and quality.
• Coordinate with design teams to resolve clashes and design changes.
• Develop and monitor short- and long-term MEP programme milestones.
• Oversee procurement and timely delivery of MEP equipment and plant.
• Collaborate with commissioning team on testing and handover strategies.
• Promote health and safety across all MEP activities on site.
• Review submittals, RFIs, method statements, and commissioning docs.
• Chair MEP coordination meetings with subcontractors and clients.
• Report progress, risks and opportunities to senior management.
• Ensure MEP installations meet project specs and standards.

Due to continued growth and a strong pipeline of secured work, they are now seeking an experienced MEP Lead to support the delivery of a major hyperscale data centre project in Northumberland.

As MEP Lead, you will take overall responsibility for the management, coordination, and delivery of all mechanical, electrical, and public health packages throughout the project lifecycle. Working closely with the Project Director, design teams, subcontractors, consultants, commissioning managers, and client representatives, you will ensure all MEP systems are delivered safely, on programme, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. The successful candidate will have a strong background delivering mission critical or large-scale construction projects and a proven track record managing complex MEP installations through to commissioning and handover.

• Work closely with the commissioning team to develop and execute commissioning, testing, and handover strategies.
• Drive health and safety standards across all MEP activities on site.
• Review technical submittals, RFIs, method statements, and commissioning documentation.
• Chair MEP coordination meetings with subcontractors, consultants, and client representatives.
• Monitor project performance and report progress, risks, and opportunities to senior management.
• Ensure all MEP installations comply with project specifications, industry standards, and client requirements.
• Support the successful completion of project close-out activities, including O&M manuals, certification, and final handover documentation.

Requirements

• Degree or trade qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Proven experience in an MEP Lead, Senior MEP Manager, or MEP Project Manager position on large-scale construction projects.
• Previous data centre, mission critical, pharmaceutical, industrial, or large-scale commercial project experience is highly desirable.
• Strong understanding of mechanical and electrical building services systems, testing, commissioning, and handover procedures.
• Experience managing multidisciplinary subcontractor teams in a fast-paced construction environment.
• Excellent programme management and coordination skills.
• Strong commercial awareness with experience monitoring project costs and contractual obligations.
• Exceptional communication and stakeholder management abilities.
• Ability to lead teams and drive project delivery under demanding timelines.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and common project management software.
