Bangor University invites applications for a part-time Project Officer (21.75 hours) in the Reaching Wider project. Based on campus, with potential remote UK work, you will recruit and train HE undergraduates to mentor learners and promote a national mentoring programme for 2026-2027.

The role requires Welsh language ability, 2 AS levels or 1 A level or NVQ4, and experience in outreach or mentoring. Fixed-term maternity cover from Oct 2026 to July 2027; DBS check required.

Qualifications

• Experience of outreach engagement with Reaching Wider target cohorts in an educational context.
• Experience of recruitment and training of FE/HE students to deliver to community groups and schools.
• Welsh language ability essential for this post.
• This post is subject to a satisfactory enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service check.

Responsibilities

• Recruit, train, and coordinate HE undergraduates to be mentors to learners engaged in 14-25 education, offering mentoring support for 2026-2027.
• Lead recruitment and engagement of mentors and mentees across Wales.
• Deliver online mentor training sessions and inductions ensuring the team is trained to support mentors on the online mentoring project.
• Ensure safeguarding and welfare of all participants is always adhered to, and that participants are trained and vetted.
• Support the Project Manager to deliver milestones and evaluate programme outcomes.
