Job description

Are you a passionate and dedicated Mental Health Worker with experience in providing behaviour support within a secondary school setting? An exciting opportunity awaits you at a partner Secondary School in Blackpool, UK!

We are seeking a skilled and empathetic individual to join our student support team. You will play a vital role in promoting positive behaviour, supporting students' emotional wellbeing, and contributing to a safe and inclusive learning environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct support to secondary school students experiencing behavioural challenges, both individually and in small groups.
  • Conduct assessments of students' social, emotional, and behavioural needs.
  • Develop and implement tailored behaviour support plans in collaboration with school staff, students, and families.
  • Offer strategies and interventions to de-escalate challenging situations and promote positive behaviour choices.
  • Contribute to the development and delivery of whole-school approaches to behaviour management and mental health awareness.
  • Liaise with external agencies and professionals as needed.
  • Maintain accurate records and contribute to progress reports.

Requirements:

  • Relevant qualification in mental health, social work, counselling, education, or a related field.
  • Proven experience of providing behaviour support to young people, ideally within a secondary school environment.
  • Strong understanding of child and adolescent development, mental health issues, and effective behaviour management techniques.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents/carers.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
  • Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one).
  • Right to work in the UK.

Desirable:

  • Specific training in behaviour management approaches (e.g., Team Teach, Positive Behaviour Support).
  • Experience delivering group work or training sessions.
  • Knowledge of the local Blackpool context and support services.
