Are you a dedicated and empathetic Support Worker with experience in providing 1:1 behaviour support to secondary school students with Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) and Individual Education Plans (IEPs)? An exciting opportunity awaits you at this Secondary School in Blackpool, UK!

We are seeking a committed individual to provide tailored 1:1 support to a specific student within our secondary school. You will play a crucial role in helping them to access the curriculum, manage their behaviour, and achieve their individual learning goals as outlined in their EHCP/IEP.

Responsibilities:

• Provide consistent 1:1 support to a designated secondary school student with specific behavioural needs as detailed in their EHCP/IEP.
• Implement behaviour support strategies and interventions outlined in the student's plan.
• Work closely with the student to build positive relationships and promote their social and emotional wellbeing.
• Support the student's engagement in classroom activities and adapt tasks as directed by the class teacher and SENCO.
• Implement strategies to manage and de-escalate challenging behaviours in a calm and consistent manner.
• Contribute to the review and evaluation of the student's EHCP/IEP, providing observations and feedback.
• Liaise effectively with the class teacher, SENCO, parents/carers, and other relevant professionals.
• Maintain accurate records of support provided and student progress.
• Promote the student's independence and integration within the school environment.

Requirements:

• Experience of working in a 1:1 support role with children or young people with behavioural needs.
• Understanding of EHCPs and IEPs and the strategies required to support students with these plans.
• Experience in implementing behaviour support plans and de-escalation techniques.
• Excellent communication, patience, and empathy skills.
• Ability to build positive and trusting relationships with students.
• Ability to work effectively under the guidance of teachers and the SENCO.
• Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
• Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one).
• Right to work in the UK.

Desirable (Optional):

• Specific training in supporting students with social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs.
• Experience of working within a secondary school setting.
• Knowledge of specific behavioural strategies (e.g., Positive Behaviour Support).
