Job Description:

Mental Health Teaching Assistant (SEMH)

Are you ready to make a lasting impact on young lives? We’re looking for a compassionate and resilient SEMH Teaching Assistant to join a dedicated school team, in Stafford, supporting children and young people with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. If you’re driven to help pupils build confidence, overcome challenges, and re-engage with learning, this could be the perfect role for you.

About the Role:

As an SEMH Teaching Assistant, you’ll work closely with pupils across Key Stages 1–4 who may also have additional needs such as Autism, ADHD, or other comorbid conditions. Your role will involve supporting behaviour for learning, promoting positive relationships, and helping students access the curriculum in a way that works for them.

This is a varied and rewarding opportunity, based in Stafford, where no two days are the same. Whether it’s helping to de-escalate a challenging moment, guiding a child through a learning activity, or simply being a steady, trusted presence in their day—you’ll be an essential part of each pupil’s progress.

What you’ll be doing:

* Supporting pupils with SEMH, ASD, ADHD, and related needs
* Helping students stay focused and engaged in lessons
* Promoting emotional wellbeing and self-regulation
* Encouraging independence and positive choices
* Working closely with teachers and pastoral teams to support individualised strategies

What we’re looking for:

We’re looking for an SEMH Teaching Assistant who brings experience, patience, and a proactive attitude. Ideally, you’ll have experience using strategies such as Team Teach or MAPA, and be confident supporting pupils with challenging behaviour in a school setting.

In Return, You’ll receive:

* A long-term, meaningful role where your impact is valued
* Ongoing support from a dedicated SEN consultant
* Generous rates of pay and access to our ‘Refer a Friend’ scheme
* A welcoming school environment focused on inclusion and care

If you’re ready to bring your skills and energy to a setting where you can genuinely change lives, apply today to become an SEMH Teaching Assistant, in Stafford.
