Location: Beck House, Chester
Pay: £13.21 per hour starting rate
Because making a difference matters — and so does feeling valued for the work you do!
At Northern Healthcare, you’ll do more than provide support. You’ll help people rebuild confidence, develop independence and take meaningful steps towards a brighter future.
We’re looking for compassionate, enthusiastic and motivated Mental Health Support Workers to join our team at Beck House in Chester, supporting adults with mental health needs, learning disabilities, autism and associated conditions on their individual recovery journeys.
Whether you’re experienced in care or looking to take your first steps into the sector, this could be the opportunity you’ve been waiting for.
You don’t need to have all the answers. What matters most is your attitude, your willingness to learn and your genuine desire to make a positive difference.
Beck House is a specialist 24/7 supported living service in Littleton, close to the centre of Chester. We provide a safe, welcoming and supportive environment where people can work towards their personal goals, develop life skills and build greater independence.
Our service has 20 ensuite bedrooms, alongside welcoming communal spaces designed to support everyday living, social connection and meaningful activity.
What makes Beck House special is the people who live here, the dedicated team who support them and the opportunities created every day.
Our clinically informed approach brings together skilled support colleagues and mental health professionals to provide individualised, person-centred support. We work alongside each person to help them build stability, confidence and the skills needed to move forward.
Recovery is about more than managing mental health — it’s about enjoying life, building relationships, discovering interests and feeling part of the community.
Every activity is an opportunity to build confidence, develop skills and celebrate progress — no matter how big or small.
No two days are the same! You’ll work alongside a dedicated team to provide person-centred support that helps individuals live fulfilling, meaningful and independent lives.
As part of the role, there may also be occasions when personal care support is required. Full training, guidance and support will be provided where necessary.
The most rewarding part of the role? Seeing someone grow in confidence, achieve something they once found difficult, develop a new friendship or take another step towards living the life they want.
You don’t need years of experience to make a difference. We believe the right values, attitude and commitment to learning are just as important as previous experience.
We’ll help you build the knowledge and confidence you need through a structured training and development programme, including:
We’ll support you to develop your skills, grow in confidence and explore where a career with Northern Healthcare could take you.
Joining us as a Mental Health Support Worker can be the start of a long and rewarding career.
As you gain experience and develop your skills, you could explore opportunities such as:
And if your passion is providing direct support to the people we work with, we’ll encourage you to continue developing your expertise and making a difference in your role.
We want our colleagues to feel supported, appreciated and rewarded for the work they do.
We’re more interested in who you are and how you treat people than simply what’s written on your CV.
Previous experience in care, mental health support or a related role is desirable, as is a Level 2 or Level 3 Health and Social Care qualification. Experience supporting a family member, friend or individual with additional needs is also welcomed.
You’ll need to be able to provide two satisfactory references covering the last three years and successfully complete the required Enhanced DBS checks. Northern Healthcare will cover the cost of the Enhanced DBS check.
Most importantly, we want people who share our values and understand that every individual deserves dignity, respect, choice and the opportunity to achieve their potential.
If these values sound like you, we’d love to hear from you!
At Beck House, every day brings new opportunities to help someone achieve something meaningful.
Whether you’re supporting someone to learn a new skill, encouraging them to access the community, helping them discover a new interest or simply being there when they need someone to listen, you’ll play an important part in their journey.
If you’re ready to do meaningful work, be part of a supportive team and help people move forward on their recovery journeys, this could be the perfect opportunity for you.
