MEICA Electrical Design Engineer – Water Infrastructure

Job summary

Kier Group plc. is seeking an Electrical Design Engineer to join the MEICA team in Salford. You will support complex infrastructure projects from concept through commissioning, specifying and reviewing electrical and ICA installations in line with water industry standards and company specs.

Collaborating with civil, mechanical and process engineers, you will ensure safe, reliable, compliant, and cost-effective asset designs, attending client remits and site activities to drive project success.

Qualifications

• Chartered Engineer with membership of an appropriate Professional Body (IET or IMechE).
• Experience in water, wastewater or process industries including hydraulic design and pumping systems.
• Knowledge of relevant Engineering Standards and SHE requirements.
• Proficient with Amtech cable design software and interpretation of P&IDs, SLDs and loop diagrams.
• Able to pass BPSS (Baseline Personnel Security Standard) requirements.

Responsibilities

• Work within the MEICA team to deliver complex infrastructure projects from concept to commissioning.
• Specify, design, review and assure electrical and ICA installations, ensuring compliance with water industry standards and company specifications.
• Coordinate design activities with multidisciplinary teams to deliver safe, reliable and cost-effective solutions.
• Agree Electrical and ICA design requirements from the client remit and ensure understanding.
• Produce and check technical specifications, functional design specifications, control philosophies, panel schedules and instrumentation schedules.
• Specify LV equipment including MCCs, motor starters, drives, transformers and power distribution panels.
• Conduct site visits, surveys and inspections and report on safety issues and attend meetings for Kier.
• Collaborate with civil, mechanical and process engineers for integrated asset design.
