We’re looking for an organised and resourceful individual to provide exceptional secretarial support to our Plastic and Breast Surgeons while managing elective waiting lists and theatre schedules. In this vital role, you’ll leverage your initiative, skills, and experience to prioritise and plan your workload.

Main duties of the job

We’re seeking a proactive and experienced individual to be part of our secretarial team. With your initiative, expertise, and forward-thinking approach, you’ll maintain the highest standards of service, delivering positive outcomes for both patients and the Trust.

As the key point of contact for patients, consultants, and other service users, you’ll play a central role in ensuring seamless communication and service delivery. Your responsibilities will also include managing waiting lists, patient target lists, and theatre schedules, as well as arranging theatre cancellations and adjustments in line with Trust policies. By balancing local and national targets with patient needs, you’ll ensure smooth operations and excellent care standards.

  • Educated to GCSE level Including English and Mathematics at grades C/4 or above or equivalent qualifications/experience
  • RSA/OCR stage III (or equivalent qualification/experience) word processing or audio typing.

  • Significant relevant medical secretarial experience.
  • Experience in audio typing.
  • Accuracy of spelling and grammar.
  • Medical terminology.
  • Experience of managing an inpatient waiting list.
  • Experience of working with patient pathways and the 18 week referral to treatment target.
  • Experience of Trust data systems.
