Job summary

Spire Parkway Hospital in Solihull, West Midlands, is seeking a Medical Records Administrator to join the busy medical records department on a full-time basis. The role focuses on preparing, tracking and storing medical records for outpatient clinics while supporting other hospital admin tasks as needed.

Ideal candidates are highly organised, accurate, and proficient with Microsoft Outlook and Excel. Training is provided and a strong commitment to patient care and data protection is essential.

Qualifications

  • Experience in a medical records department is highly regarded, but full training will be provided.
  • Proficient with PC applications including Microsoft Outlook and Excel.
  • Able to work to tight deadlines with accuracy.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work as part of a team.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare, track and store medical records for the hospital.
  • Prepare Medical Records for Outpatient, Pre Assessment and Admissions clinics.
  • File and archive records and provide records on request.
  • Input data and handle telephone enquiries as required.
  • Ensure meticulous accuracy amid high volumes of appointments.
  • Operate within Data Protection Act and hospital data policies.

Medical Records Administrator | Spire Parkway Hospital | Medical Records | Competitive salary + Excellent Benefits | Full Time (37.5hrs) | Solihull, Birmingham

Spire Parkway Hospitalhave an exciting new vacancy for an administrator to join our busy medical records departmenton a full time basis.


Our Medical Records team are primarily responsible for the preparation, tracking and accurate storage of all medical records for the hospital. Your tasks will include preparation of records prior to outpatient clinics, transportation to the relevant department and filing once complete. Due to the high number of appointments the hospital completes on a daily basis this is a busy, fast paced role that requires meticulous attention to detail and accuracy. You may be required to cover admin across other departments in the hospital.


Spire Parkway Hospital in Solihull, West Midlands offers a comprehensive range of private hospital services. Our hospital is rated Good by the CQC for all parts of the inspection except for Patient Care, which is rated Outstanding. The report states, “Staff treated patients with compassion and kindness, respected their privacy and dignity, took account of their individual needs, and helped them understand their conditions. They provided emotional support to patients, families and carers.”


Our dedicated hospital team are passionate about excellent patient care and we offer a range of specialist treatments to patients across Birmingham, Warwickshire and the West Midlands. This includes diagnostic services, rehabilitation, cutting-edge surgical procedures and excellence in specialist fields like orthopaedics, women’s health and cancer care. We have 51 bedrooms and five operating theatres.


Duties and responsibilities:


  • Taking primary responsibility for the accurate preparation, tracking and storage of all medical records for the hospital

  • Preparation of Medical Records for Outpatient, Pre Assessment and Admissions clinics

  • Preparation of files for storage and archiving

  • To provide records or information on request

  • Filing, photocopying, dealing with telephone enquiries and sundries as required

  • Inputting of data as and when required

  • The effective transportation of medical records to the relevant department(s)

  • To file incoming reports/correspondence into patient records

  • Ensuring a meticulous attention to detail and accuracy, due to the high volume of appointments the hospital manages on a daily basis.

  • Operate strictly within Data Protection Act legislation and data protection policies


Who we're looking for:


  • Someone who is highly organised, accurate and works well to tight deadlines

  • Previous experience of working in a medical records department along with knowledge of the health care industry would be would be highly regarded, however, full training will be provided

  • Proficient in the use of a PC, including Microsoft, Outlook and Excel software

  • Must be a good communicator

  • Working well as part of a team

  • Must be comfortable with the physical element of this role

  • Customer Service Experience

  • Excellent communication skills, organised and can showcase excellent patient care.
