American Family Care (AFC) is one of the largest primary and urgent care providers in the U.S., offering services seven days a week on a walk-in basis. Our state-of-the-art centers focus on episodic treatment of acute illnesses and injuries, workers' compensation, and occupational medicine. Each location is equipped with an onsite lab and in-house x-ray capabilities.

AFC is the parent company of AFC Franchising, LLC (AFCF). This position works directly with a franchised business location. Specific job duties and benefits may vary between franchises.

Job Summary

To accurately check patients in and out by verifying insurance, collecting payments, maintaining patient records, and ensuring smooth patient flow. Provide positive patient relations.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare the clinic for opening each day by reviewing the facility, opening all systems applications, and preparing new patient registration packets and required documents.
  • Greet patients, provide initial paperwork, and obtain copies of insurance and identification cards.
  • Register patients, update patient records, verify insurance accurately and timely, and check patients out.
  • Determine, collect, and process patient payments; address collection and billing issues.
  • Respond promptly to customer needs, provide excellent customer service, assist with follow-up appointments, and fulfill medical documentation requests.
  • Balance daily patient charges (cash, check, credit cards) against system reports.
  • Complete closing procedures by preparing documentation and submitting reports.
  • Perform cash control procedures and secure financial assets.
  • Maintain complete and accurate documentation.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent. Previous medical clerical experience preferred. Basic computer skills, e.g., Microsoft Office. Accuracy and attention to detail. Positive customer service skills. Well-groomed appearance. Clear and articulate phone mannerisms.
