Job summary

King's College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust seeks a Medical Equipment Resource Centre Assistant to support the MEMS unit. You will manage the equipment library, assist with loaned items, log repairs, and provide information to clients while maintaining tidy facilities.

The role involves reception duties, inventory control, and frequent interaction with clinical staff. NVQ3/related training and strong IT literacy are preferred; a commitment to safety and accurate data entry is essential.

Qualifications

• Good numeracy and literacy (NVQ3, RSA 3, City and Guilds).
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office.
• Able to enter data into appropriate software packages enabling creation of documents such as minutes, reports, presentations etc.
• Understanding of hazards posed by electricity – medium voltages and currents and cross-infection.
• Experience of, or interest in technology.

Responsibilities

• Technical: Collect equipment marked as belonging to the equipment library; deliver equipment to users; collect faulty non-library equipment and deliver to MEMS for repair; return repaired equipment to wards; liaise with users to provide information on availability of equipment; clean and decontaminate equipment; ensure loan equipment is stored correctly; maintain tidy library shelves; provide consumables and disposables, ensuring budget transfers.
• Administrative: Record details of equipment loaned from the library; provide monthly activity figures; log faults on the dedicated database; keep MEMS reception tidy and organised.
• Communication: Report equipment-related problems to managers; liaise to maintain adequate stocks of consumables; handle MEMS telephone inquiries and provide information within competence; respond to progress queries using the database or engineering staff.
