Job summary

Tradewind Recruitment is recruiting for a passionate Media Teacher to join a mixed secondary academy for pupils aged 11-16 in Havering. This permanent, full-time role starts from September and offers the opportunity to teach engaging Media lessons and contribute to curriculum development within a supportive school.

Tradewind Recruitment is currently recruiting for a passionate and creative Media Teacher to join this Client, a mixed secondary academy for pupils aged 11-16 located in Havering.

This is an excellent opportunity for an enthusiastic Media Teacher looking to join a supportive secondary school on a permanent, full-time basis from September.

Media Teacher - The Role

As a Media Teacher, you will be responsible for delivering engaging and creative Media lessons, inspiring students to develop their understanding of media industries, audiences, representation and media language.

The successful Media Teacher will be expected to:

• Plan and deliver high-quality Media lessons in line with the curriculum.
• Teach Media across the relevant Key Stages, including examination classes where required.
• Create engaging lessons that encourage students to analyse, interpret and produce different forms of media.
• Monitor and assess student progress, providing constructive feedback to support achievement.
• Prepare students effectively for internal and external assessments.
• Maintain high expectations for behaviour, engagement and academic progress.
• Contribute to the development of the Media curriculum and resources.
• Work collaboratively with colleagues across the department and wider school.
• Take an active role in the wider life of this Client.

Qualifications Required

Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification.

• A relevant degree or strong academic background in Media, Media Studies or a closely related subject.
• Experience teaching Media within a secondary school environment is desirable.
• Strong knowledge of the Media curriculum and relevant examination specifications.
• ECTs with appropriate subject knowledge and training are also encouraged to apply.

Person Specification

This Client is looking for a Media Teacher who is enthusiastic about their subject and able to inspire students through creative and engaging teaching.

You should have strong classroom management skills, excellent communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with students and colleagues.

The successful candidate will be organised, reliable and committed to maintaining high standards of teaching and learning. You should be able to differentiate lessons effectively to meet the needs of students with different abilities and learning styles and demonstrate a genuine commitment to helping every student make progress.

Salary and Benefits

Salary: London MPS/UPS, with salary placement determined by relevant teaching experience and in accordance with the applicable pay scale.

M1-M6: Salaries are aligned to experience within the Main Pay Range. Teachers typically progress annually from M1 through to M6, subject to the school's pay policies and applicable criteria.

UPS: Progression to the Upper Pay Scale requires a formal application and assessment against the relevant standards.

TLR Payments: Where the successful candidate undertakes agreed and sustained additional responsibilities outside of their regular teaching duties, an appropriate Teaching and Learning Responsibility (TLR) payment may be available.
