Job summary

ALTEN seeks an experienced Processing/Manufacturing Engineer with a strong mechatronics bias to support electric motor assembly and testing in a technical production environment. The role involves hands-on shop floor support and addressing manufacturing issues.

You will work with production, quality and engineering teams to drive process improvements, maintain equipment, and develop clear work instructions while aiming for higher productivity and quality.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as Processing Engineer or Manufacturing Engineer in a manufacturing environment.
• Strong background in manufacturing process support and continuous improvement.
• Extensive experience in electronics and manufacturing fault-finding.
• Ability to rapidly understand and support day-to-day shop floor operations.
• Experience supporting and troubleshooting manufacturing equipment such as potting, test, winding and pressing machines.
• Excellent problem-solving and root cause analysis skills.
• Experience working within multidisciplinary engineering and production teams.
• A minimum of 10 years' relevant industry experience.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, or equivalent military experience.

Responsibilities

• Provide manufacturing engineering support to daily shop floor operations.
• Troubleshoot and resolve manufacturing and production issues across a range of assembly and test processes.
• Support the operation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of manufacturing equipment.
• Investigate process failures and implement corrective actions to minimise downtime.
• Work closely with production, quality, and engineering teams to ensure efficient manufacturing processes.
• Develop and maintain manufacturing documentation, processes, and work instructions.
• Drive process improvements to enhance productivity, quality, and operational efficiency.
• Support production readiness activities and introduction of process improvements.
• Assist with root cause investigations and fault‑finding activities involving manufacturing equipment and electronic systems.
