Job summary

James Fisher and Sons plc is seeking a Technician - Mechanical in Inchinnan, near Glasgow. The role involves manufacturing, assembly and service of products, with emphasis on QA, safety and staff training under the senior team.

You will supervise technicians, sign off documents, plan workloads, and ensure timely delivery while maintaining high standards. The ideal candidate holds a technical apprenticeship/SVQ, with supervisory experience and strong mechanical skills.

Qualifications

• Apprenticeship or SVQ in a technical discipline at minimum.
• Basic supervisory capability and delegation.
• Practical skills in mechanical engineering and assembly.
• Experience with lifting operations and related certification is a plus.
• Awareness of QA and Health & Safety in manufacturing/workshop.
• Proven track record in manufacturing or service environments.
• Desirable knowledge of diving equipment.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and train Trainee/Assistant Technicians.
• Sign off controlled company documentation.
• Plan workloads and delegate tasks.
• Carry out operations safely and reliably.
• Move materials through workshop from start to completion.
• Develop team skills and competencies.
• Communicate effectively and respond to feedback.
• Organise and maintain clean workshop areas.
• Assist with customer service and engage with customers.
• Collaborate with Engineers to keep products up to date.
