Job summary

James Fisher and Sons plc in Inchinnan, Glasgow, seeks an Electrical Technician for permanent, on-site work. You will manufacture, assemble and service products, supervise trainees, sign off documentation and ensure QA and safety standards are met.

You will work with engineers, support future-proofing of products, move materials through workshop, and may travel to project sites. Security clearance is required for this defence role.

Qualifications

  • Completed a recognised apprenticeship or training program in a technical discipline to a minimum of a SVQ qualification (or equivalent nationally recognised qualification) or has equivalent industry experience in a similar role.
  • Knowledge of Diving communication Systems, diver monitoring and integrated diving control systems.
  • Supervisory skills.
  • Recognised proven skills in an Electronic/Electrical discipline.
  • Knowledge of Quality Assurance and Health and Safety within the work environment.
  • Proven track record of in a manufacturing/ service environment.

Responsibilities

  • Supervision and training of Trainee Technicians.

  • Carry out all operational activities in a safe and reliable manner.
  • Participate in the movement of materials through workshop from start to completion.
  • Development of electronics/electrical team’s skills and competencies.
  • Effectively communicate with others, seeking clarification where necessary, and respond to feedback.
  • Organise and keep clean workshop areas.
  • Performing customer service functions, including interacting with customers and answering questions
  • Working with engineers to keep products up to date and helping future proofing of products.

About the Role

Technician - Electrical
Permanent position
Inchinnan, Glasgow

The Role: The Electrical Technician is responsible for the manufacturing, assembly and service of the company’s products as directed by the senior team. They will instruct & delegate to the direct reports ensuring that products conform, QA processes and safety is key and adhered too, and individuals are trained on the appropriate product in order to deliver our products on time in full.

Key Duties and responsibilities:
  • Supervision and training of Trainee Technicians.

A flexible approach to working will be required, as there may be some working away from base as projects require.

This position is within the defence sector therefore; you will need to be able to pass security clearance for this role.
