Job summary

BWSC in the UK is seeking a Mechanical Technician to maintain the plant in line with OEM guidance, safety and environmental standards. You will lead planned maintenance, diagnose faults, supervise 3rd party contractors, and ensure CMMS records and RAMS are up to date. The role requires HSE awareness, engineering integrity checks, and availability improvements. Full-time with UK travel may be required.

Qualifications

• ONC / C&G / NVQ level 3 in mechanical engineering is essential; practical maintenance experience required.
• IOSH Managing Safely is preferred.
• Engineering experience within a maintenance role.
• Experience of permit and safety systems and WSE (LOLER/PSSR).
• Knowledge of steam turbines, combustion systems, steam cycle chemistry, WTP, generators and flue gas emission abatement.
• Preventive maintenance/defect repair of valves, pumps, fans, drives and conveyors.
• Ability to read P&ID and isometric diagrams.
• MS Office proficiency; CMMS experience advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Maintain plant according to OEM guidance, legislation and best practice, maximising availability.
• Undertake daily planned maintenance per CMMS plan; submit RAMS within timeframes.
• Diagnose faults and repair with or without 3rd party support.
• Improve plant reliability and efficiency while maintaining integrity and safety.
• Supervise 3rd party providers and accept RAMS.
• Keep CMMS records of all historical works.
• Own or manage contracts with 3rd party maintenance providers.
• Perform engineering integrity assessments (floors, handrails, ladders).
• Provide engineering technical support to fuel handling and operations.
• Manage spares and ensure replenishment at agreed levels.
• Support outages: planning, scheduling, delivery and 3rd party coordination.
• Adhere to HSEQ policies and help develop site procedures.
