Job summary

Bekaert in the United Kingdom seeks a proactive Maintenance Technician to keep plant and machinery available and reliable by reducing downtime through due diligence, SMED and continuous improvement initiatives. You will perform planned and reactive maintenance, coordinate with production supervision, and promote best H&S practices while supporting ISO 14001 and related standards.

The role operates on a 3-week rotating shift pattern and offers a competitive salary including base pay and shift

Qualifications

• Mechanical systems knowledge for maintaining machinery and equipment
• Troubleshooting skills to diagnose and fix issues promptly
• Preventive maintenance planning and execution to minimize downtime
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics
• Hands-on experience with hand and power tools for repairs
• Familiarity with hydraulic and pneumatic systems used in machinery
• Knowledge of safety regulations and best practices in maintenance
• Experience using CMMS to track maintenance activities

Responsibilities

• Work within company policies and procedures (Health and Safety, Quality, HR, environmental)
• Ensure compliance with quality/environment standards (ISO 14001, etc.) and applicable legislation (HSE, waste, COSHH)
• Carry out Process Setup of equipment and assist in SMED activities when requested
• Perform planned maintenance to required standards and reactive maintenance as needed
• Coordinate with production supervision to ensure smooth running and availability of plant and equipment
• Support continuous improvement projects and promote best operational practices
• Promote best H&S practice by coordinating audits, SOP reviews
• Contribute to reducing function accident statistics
• Carry out project works assigned to schedule
• Promote best practice H&S through audits, SOP reviews, quality, and incident investigations
• May be required to work at other Bridon sites
