Job summary

Staffline in Rushden is seeking a Mechanical Technician to diagnose and repair faults on mechanical/hydraulic systems across production equipment. The role includes performing planned maintenance to maximise reliability and efficiency, and supporting continuous improvement to reduce downtime in a fast-paced manufacturing setting.

You will service site equipment, assist with basic electrical faults, and work closely with production teams to minimise disruption.

Qualifications

• Minimum Level 2 or Level 3 qualification in Engineering (Mechanical or Electrical).
• Strong mechanical maintenance background in a manufacturing or production environment.
• Experience working with hydraulics, pneumatics, and mechanical systems.
• Basic electrical fault-finding ability (desirable, not essential).
• Proven ability to diagnose faults and carry out efficient repairs.
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced, shift-based environment.
• A proactive, team-oriented mindset with strong problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Carry out fault diagnosis and repairs on mechanical and hydraulic systems across production equipment
• Perform planned preventative maintenance (PPM) to maximise machinery reliability and efficiency
• Troubleshoot breakdowns and implement effective, long-term solutions to minimise downtime
• Support continuous improvement initiatives to optimise equipment performance (OEE)
• Maintain and service site equipment, utilities, and general mechanical systems
• Work collaboratively with production teams to ensure minimal disruption to operations
• Complete maintenance records and ensure all work is carried out in line with health & safety standards
• Assist with basic electrical fault finding and repair where required
