Job summary

WR Engineering in Rushden is seeking a hands-on Shift Maintenance Engineer to join a tier-one packaging manufacturer in a fast-paced production environment. You will perform fault finding, reactive repairs, and planned preventive maintenance across electrical and mechanical systems, working with production and engineering teams to improve reliability and uptime.

Shift Maintenance Engineer

Salary: £40,000 - £45,000 DOE

Hours: 42 hours per week average

Location: Rushden

Shift Pattern: 3 nights on, 2 days off, 3 days on, 12-hour shifts, 7 to 7

We are recruiting for a Shift Maintenance Engineer to join a tier-one packaging manufacturer within a fast-paced production environment. This is a hands-on, multi-skilled role focused on keeping machinery running efficiently, reducing downtime, and supporting continuous improvement across the site.

The successful candidate will carry out fault finding, reactive repairs, planned preventative maintenance and general site engineering work across electrical and mechanical systems. You will work closely with production and engineering teams to improve reliability, maintain safety standards and support TPM/OEE initiatives.

Requirements:

• Strong electrical engineering background
• Recognised engineering qualification, such as City & Guilds, ONC or NVQ
• Manufacturing or production environment experience
• Ability to read electrical drawings
• Working knowledge of PLCs, HMIs, pneumatics and hydraulics
• Electrical installation experience, 17th/18th Edition beneficial
• Blow moulding or injection moulding experience would be advantageous
