Job summary

Astute People is recruiting a Mechanical Technician for a South London power station on a 3-month contract. The role is inside IR35 with a negotiable hourly rate. Immediate start available.

The successful candidate will fault-find and maintain mechanical assets such as steam boilers, pumps, gearboxes, valves, hydraulics and pneumatics, while keeping CMMS records and ensuring spare parts availability.

Qualifications

• Fault finding and maintenance of mechanical assets.
• Ensure compliance with pressure regulations and lifting gear inspection requirements.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records on CMMS.
• Experience in heavy process environments (Power, Paper Mills, FMCG, COMAH) preferred.

Job description

Astute's Power team is partnered with a market leading Energy company to recruit a Mechanical Technician on a 3 month contact basis for their power station in South London.

The Mechanical Technician role comes with a negotiable hourly/daily rate (DoE), inside of IR35.

Experience, skills and qualifications

• Fault finding and maintaining mechanical assets including steam boilers, pumps, gearboxes, valves, hydraulics, pneumatics, compressed air systems, etc.
• Working in line with maintenance techniques and best practices
• To ensure compliance with the pressure regulations and lifting gear inspection requirements
• Maintaining accurate maintenance records on the site Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS)
• To ensure the availability of plant spares
• Ideally have an NVQ Level 3 qualification in a relevant engineering discipline such as Mechanical Engineering
• Prior experience of hands‑on maintenance within heavy process engineering environments such as Power, Paper Mills, FMCG, COMAH sites, etc.
