Job summary

Astute People are seeking a Mechanical Technician for a 3 month contract at a power station in South London. You will fault-find and maintain mechanical assets including steam boilers, pumps and gearboxes, working to maintenance best practices.

Responsibilities include keeping CMMS maintenance records, ensuring spare parts availability and compliance with pressure regulations and lifting gear inspection requirements. Immediate start and inside IR35 rate negotiable.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 3 in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
• Experience in heavy process environments (Power, Paper Mills, FMCG).
• Strong fault-finding and maintenance capabilities on mechanical assets.

Responsibilities

• Fault find and maintain mechanical assets including steam boilers, pumps, gearboxes, valves and hydraulics.
• Work in line with maintenance techniques and best practices.
• Keep CMMS maintenance records up to date and ensure spare parts availability.
• Ensure compliance with pressure regulations and lifting gear inspection requirements.

Astute's Power team is partnered with a market leading Energy company to recruit a Mechanical Technician on a 3 month contact basis for their power station in South London. The Mechanical Technician role comes with a negotiable hourly/daily rate (DoE), inside of IR35.

Experience, skills and qualifications

• Fault finding and maintaining mechanical assets including steam boilers, pumps, gearboxes, valves, hydraulics, pneumatics, compressed air systems, etc.
• Working in line with maintenance techniques and best practices
• To ensure compliance with the pressure regulations and lifting gear inspection requirements
• Maintaining accurate maintenance records on the site Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS)
• To ensure the availability of plant spares
• Ideally have an NVQ Level 3 qualification in a relevant engineering discipline such as Mechanical Engineering
• Prior experience of hands-on maintenance within heavy process engineering environments such as Power, Paper Mills, FMCG, COMAH sites, etc.
