Job summary

Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Mechanical Technician (Fitter/Plumber) to join the Estates team at Northern General Hospital in Sheffield. This NHS Band 5 role supports essential hospital services with maintenance and repairs to heating, plumbing and mechanical systems.

The position offers regular hours (8am–4pm, Mon–Fri) with opportunities for ongoing training, including Authorised Person status and other technical courses, within a supportive NHS environment.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of Estates maintenance procedures (electrical or mechanical) up to technician level.
• Completion of a recognised trade CITB/EITB apprenticeship.
• Competent in HV/LV, Medical Gas, Ventilation, Water Safety or related areas.
• HNC in a relevant Engineering subject.

Responsibilities

• Repair and maintenance of hospital heating, water, and plumbing systems to high standards.
• Carry out planned and reactive maintenance across hospital estates.
• Work with other trades to deliver projects and maintenance tasks.
