Job summary

Veolia is seeking a field-based technician to inspect, service and repair dewatering equipment at customer sites across London and the South. You will join a small team of engineers, working 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, with flexibility for standby and occasional overnight stays.

The role requires a Full UK Driving Licence; experience in an industrial environment or a mechanical engineering qualification is preferred. A company vehicle and Veolia benefits are provided.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect, service and repair dewatering machines at customer sites.
  • Assist with mechanical repairs and modifications to pumps, pipework and valves.
  • Assist with pipework installations using plastics, stainless steel and mild steel.
  • Provide standby cover and overtime as required.
  • Complete test reports, installation certificates and customer feedback documents.

Salary: 16.34 per hour (inclusive of cost of living rate) plus company vehicle, overtime pay and Veolia benefits

Hours: 40 hours per week, Mon - Fri (Flexible between 06:00am - 06:00pm)

What you'll be doing:
  • Work as part of a team, often consisting of two engineers across a range of sites.
  • Assist with carrying out inspections, services and repairs to customers' dewatering machines.
  • Assist mechanical repairs and modifications to pumps, pipework and valves and other ancillary equipment.
  • Assist pipework installations using plastic, stainless steel and mild steel materials.
  • Undertake standby cover and overtime as required as well as flexibility to work away from home.
  • Assist with completing test reports, installation certificates and customer feedback documents.
  • Work alongside on site customer teams.
  • Liaise on site with customers as a point of contact.
  • Assist with the maintenance and repair of dewatering equipment and ancillaries on sewage and clean water treatment facilities.
  • Help to ensure energy efficient operation of assets and minimise downtime and potential pollution risks.
  • Help reduce raw material usage on assets by completing thorough service and maintenance tasks using first time fixes.
  • Provide front line care and maintenance of customer dewatering assets, ensuring they are kept in optimum working condition and are readily available for use.
  • Operate a range of assets safely and effectively in line with company procedures, manufacturer guidelines and relevant health and safety requirements.
  • Operate mobile hire equipment, ensuring it is used correctly, safely and in accordance with all relevant operational and compliance standards.

This role requires flexibility, including a willingness to undertake standby cover, overtime, and occasional periods of working away from home when required.

What we're looking for:
Essential:
  • Full UK Driving License
  • Previous experience in working in an industrial environment or newly qualified in Mechanical Engineering
Desirable:
  • NVQ or a recognised apprenticeship in mechanical engineering maintenance at Level 2
  • Experience in maintaining the equipment typically found on water and sewage treatment plants.
  • Confined Space Training
  • First Aid Trained
