Job Title: Mechanical Supervisor – Trades

Location: Helensburgh, Argyll & Bute

Compensation: £38,000 - £45,000 + Benefits

The role

As a Mechanical Supervisor - Trades, you will lead a mechanical trades team responsible for Fleet Engineering work packages. Your key responsibilities include ensuring safety, cost, time, and quality objectives are met, and using your technical skills to plan and schedule work within our Fleet Engineering business area.

Note: The role requires comfort working at heights and in confined spaces.

Daily duties involve leading a team responsible for maintenance, testing, and commissioning activities on Fleet Assets, ensuring all project activities are completed on time, within budget, and according to safety and quality standards.

1. Collaborate with the Fleet Programmes Team to define work requirements and schedule activities.
2. Report progress, team performance, and risks to the Delivery Manager.
3. Ensure compliance with current processes and suggest improvements to increase safety and productivity.
4. Adhere to all H&S legislation, Safe Systems of Work, and Clyde policies.
5. Manage subcontractor work packages, including quality review.

This is a full-time, on-site position at HMNB Clyde, Faslane.

Essential experience

• Supervisory or first-line management experience in mechanical or marine engineering.
• Ability to lead a team, engage stakeholders, and produce reports.
• Experience managing work packages and liaising with engineering teams.
• Experience in maintenance procedures, risk assessments, method statements, and Safe Systems of Work.

Qualifications

• Recognised Mechanical or Marine Engineering Apprenticeship (SVQ Level 3, NVQ, C&G, or HNC and above).
• IOSH qualification is beneficial but not essential.
• ILM3 or equivalent management certification is desirable but not essential.

The successful candidate must be able to achieve SC security clearance. Many roles are subject to security and export restrictions based on nationality and residency.
