ARC in Leicester is seeking a Senior Mechanical Project Manager to lead complex mechanical engineering projects from concept to handover. You will manage cross‑functional teams, budgets and schedules, ensuring safety, quality and on‑time delivery.

The ideal candidate has extensive mechanical PM experience, strong commercial acumen and the ability to drive tendering, procurement and continuous improvement across project delivery.

Senior Mechanical Project Manager — Leicester

A leading engineering business based in Leicester is looking for an experienced Senior Mechanical Project Manager to lead the successful delivery of complex mechanical engineering projects from initial concept through to completion. This is a senior-level opportunity for an accomplished project manager with a strong mechanical engineering background, excellent commercial awareness and the ability to lead multidisciplinary teams, manage key stakeholders and deliver projects safely, on time and within budget.

The Role

The Senior Mechanical Project Manager will take overall responsibility for the planning, coordination and delivery of major mechanical engineering projects. Working closely with engineering, design, procurement, manufacturing and site teams, the successful candidate will ensure projects meet technical, commercial, quality and programme requirements.

• Managing mechanical engineering projects from design and development through to installation, commissioning and handover.
• Developing and maintaining detailed project programmes, budgets and delivery plans.
• Leading multidisciplinary project teams and coordinating internal departments, contractors and suppliers.
• Managing project risks, issues, change control and commercial performance.
• Working closely with customers and key stakeholders to ensure expectations and contractual requirements are met.
• Reviewing engineering designs, specifications and technical documentation.
• Coordinating procurement, manufacturing, installation and commissioning activities.
• Ensuring projects are delivered in accordance with health & safety, quality and regulatory requirements.
• Monitoring project progress, costs and performance, providing regular updates to senior management.
• Supporting business development, tendering and estimating activities where required.
• Driving continuous improvement across project delivery processes.

About the Candidate

The ideal Senior Mechanical Project Manager will have a strong track record of delivering complex mechanical engineering projects and be comfortable operating at a senior level within a technically demanding environment. The successful candidate is likely to have:

• Significant project management experience within mechanical engineering, manufacturing, industrial engineering or a related sector.
• A recognised mechanical qualification Proven experience managing sizeable projects, budgets and multidisciplinary teams.
• Strong understanding of mechanical engineering principles, manufacturing processes and project lifecycles.
• Excellent commercial, contractual and financial management skills.
• Strong communication and stakeholder-management abilities.
• The confidence to make decisions, manage competing priorities and resolve complex project issues.
• Experience with project management methodologies, planning tools and risk management.
