Qualifications

• Background in mechanical engineering within production/manufacturing maintenance.
• Completed an apprenticeship in a mechanical discipline and hold an HNC in Mechanical Engineering.
• Strong problem-solving, analytical and communication skills.
• Leadership and team management abilities; able to self-manage priorities.

Responsibilities

• Ensuring compliance with safety and operational standards.
• Managing safety improvements and close out of safety hazards across the department in liaison with the Department Manager.
• Increasing the integrity and reliability of machines; driving improvements to OEE and KPIs.
• Developing PPM documentation for each asset in the department.
• Performing routine and preventive maintenance on mechanical systems with the Engineering team.
• Tracking adherence to PPM schedule and timely inspections.
• Managing close out of mechanical defects in the department.
• Maintaining accurate records of maintenance and repairs for the department.
• Reviewing obsolescence of parts to prolong machine life.
• Identifying and troubleshooting routine failure modes and implementing corrective actions.
• Participating in routine preventive maintenance in other departments as required.
• Supporting capital projects with ideas for investment and cost savings.
• Collaborating with other trades to complete tasks.
• Inspecting mechanical systems and components for wear or damage.
• Ensuring adequate stock of critical spares.
• Working with Production Operators to resolve recurring issues.
• Developing guides and SOPs for machine tasks.
