Job summary

Protec Fire and Security Group in Manchester is seeking a hands-on installer for the mechanical small works department. You will fit pipework, pumprooms and valve sets, work with field staff and clients, and assist with commissioning and repairing fire sprinkler systems.

You’ll need to understand sprinkler standards and provide excellent service. Full training will be provided, with opportunities for progression.

Qualifications

• Experience in fire sprinkler pipework and systems.
• Ability to read and mark up drawings for fire sprinkler projects.
• Familiarity with sprinkler standards and rulings.

Responsibilities

• Work with small works department team management to install pipework for fire systems.
• Collaborate with field staff and clients to deliver high-quality workmanship.
• Read and interpret fire sprinkler drawings and specifications.
• Maintain accurate records and timesheets for projects.

Job description

To provide our national client base with an excellent customer service installing pipework, pumprooms and valve sets for the mechanical small works department. You will work closely with field staff and clients. You will need the ability to commissioning and repair fire sprinkler systems. It is important to have an understanding of sprinkler standards and rulings for fire protection systems. Excellent career progression, grading system and full training provided for new systems. All the relevant skills, qualifications and experience that a successful applicant will need are listed in the following description.

Typical Responsibilities

• To work with and under instruction from the small works department team management
• Have the ability to work as a team player
• Show willing to learn new systems and procedures
• Have the capability to deal with challenges that maybe on sites and able to adopt with the right attitude to overcome the obstacles and in a correct manner
• To act as a company ambassador, you must be smart in appearance, pleasant in attitude, and capable of communicating diplomatically to strengthen customer relations
• Have experience in fitting pipework for fire systems to a high standard
• Ability to read and mark up drawings and work on different fire sprinkler systems
• Any other duties commensurate with the role.

Experience

• Experience of working in the fire industry
• Have knowledge on sprinkler standards and rulings
• Installing fire sprinkler pipework
• Be able to read fire sprinkler drawings
