Job summary

VVB Engineering is recruiting a Mechanical Mate / Labourer for the HS2 Old Oak Common Project in London. You will support Mechanical Fitters with pipework, ductwork, and plantroom equipment installations, contributing to safe and high-quality delivery on a major infrastructure programme.

This hands-on role requires a reliable team player with a good safety mindset. You will assist with loading/unloading, prepare work areas, and ensure tools and materials are ready for installation activities,

Qualifications

• Experience as a Mechanical Mate, Labourer, or Construction Operative on construction or infrastructure projects.
• Basic understanding of mechanical building services installations (pipework and ductwork) is desirable.
• Willingness to learn and support mechanical installation activities.
• Strong work ethic and ability to work in a team.
• Good awareness of health, safety, and quality standards.
• Valid JIB/ECS/CSCS card (or relevant site certification).
• Experience on major infrastructure, rail, or construction projects is advantageous.

Responsibilities

The successful candidate will support Mechanical Fitters with the installation of Victaulic and Mapress pipework systems, ductwork, and plantroom equipment, ensuring work is carried out safely, efficiently, and to the required quality standards.
