Job summary

Cargill in Hull is seeking a Mechanical Maintenance & Reliability Technician to join its engineering team. You’ll maintain and improve plant reliability through planned and reactive maintenance in a highly automated environment, with training opportunities to expand electrical skills and multi-skilling.

The role focuses on preventative, predictive and corrective maintenance, ensuring safe, efficient operation and continuous improvement across rotating equipment, pumps and hydraulic/pneumatic

Qualifications

• A recognised Mechanical Engineering qualification is required.
• Experience in manufacturing, food/FMCG or similar environments.
• Strong mechanical fault finding and maintenance experience.
• Experience on rotating equipment, pumps, bearings, gearboxes or hydraulic/pneumatic systems.
• Desirable: basic electrical fault-finding, PLC fault-finding, welding or fabrication.

Responsibilities

• Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM).
• Respond to mechanical breakdowns and equipment failures.
• Fault finding and repair of production machinery.
• Work on pumps, conveyors, gearboxes, bearings, hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
• Complete maintenance documentation using the CMMS.
• Support continuous improvement and reliability initiatives.
• Collaborate with production to maximise plant uptime.
• Assist with installation and improvement projects.
• Follow safe working practices at all times.

Cargill is looking for a skilled Mechanical Maintenance & Reliability Technician to join its established engineering team in Hull. This is an excellent opportunity to work on a wide variety of manufacturing equipment while developing your electrical skills through industry leading training.

Location: Hull
Salary: £48,500 - £50,500 + £2,500 Call Out Allowance + Excellent Benefits
Weekly Rotating shifts: Mon - Fri 8hrs per shift 6am to 2pm, 7am to 3pm, 2pm to 10pm

The Role

Working within a highly automated manufacturing environment, youll be responsible for maintaining and improving plant reliability through planned and reactive maintenance activities.
The role combines preventative, predictive and reactive maintenance to ensure the sites equipment continues to operate safely and efficiently.

Required Skills

• A recognised Mechanical Engineering qualification (NVQ Level 3, HNC, Apprenticeship or equivalent)
• Previous experience within manufacturing, food, FMCG, chemical or other industrial environments
• Strong mechanical fault finding and maintenance experience
• Experience working on rotating equipment, pumps, bearings, gearboxes or hydraulic and pneumatic systems
• A proactive approach to problem solving
• Good communication skills and a team focused attitude
• Desirable
• Basic electrical fault-finding experience
• PLC fault finding experience
• Welding or fabrication experience
