Job summary

Omega Resource Group is seeking a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer for a temporary contract in the Wakefield/Pontefract area within a highly automated distribution operation. You will fault-find, maintain and improve a wide range of automated material handling equipment to keep products flowing across the UK.

The role suits engineers from automated warehouses, FMCG, manufacturing or distribution centres, with experience in conveyors, sortation, ASRS and robotics.

Qualifications

• Mechanical Engineering qualification (NVQ Level 3, Apprenticeship, HNC or equivalent).
• Strong mechanical fault-finding skills.
• Experience working on conveyors, sortation systems or automated machinery.
• Knowledge of bearings, gearboxes, pneumatics, chains, belts and drives.
• Ability to work independently in a fast-moving environment.
• Continuous improvement mindset.

Responsibilities

• Reactive breakdown maintenance to minimise downtime.
• Planned preventative maintenance (PPM).
• Mechanical fault-finding on automated equipment.
• Replacing and repairing bearings, chains, belts, gearboxes and motors.
• Continuous improvement and reliability projects.
• Supporting operational performance and site uptime targets.
• Ensuring compliance with health, safety and engineering standards.

Working within a fast-paced warehouse environment, you'll maintain, fault-find and improve a wide range of automated material handling equipment that keeps products flowing to customers across the UK.

This is an excellent temporary contract opportunity for engineers from automated warehouses, FMCG, manufacturing, distribution centres, parcel hubs, airports, baggage handling operations, or other high-speed automated environments.
