Job summary

KPJ Group in Stockport is seeking an experienced Mechanical Maintenance Engineer to join our precision engineering business specialising in high-quality gears and machine components. You will respond quickly to machine breakdowns, carry out planned preventive maintenance and work closely with production teams to minimise downtime.

The role offers a Monday–Friday 7am–4pm schedule with early finish on Fridays, overtime at enhanced rate, a 5% pension plan, 25 days holiday & banks, cycle to work

Qualifications

• NVQ, City & Guilds or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering.
• Time-served Mechanical Maintenance Engineer background.
• Previous manufacturing or industrial maintenance experience.
• Strong mechanical fault-finding skills.
• Basic electrical maintenance knowledge.
• A proactive and self-motivated approach.

Responsibilities

• Responding quickly to machine breakdowns across the production facility.
• Carrying out planned preventive maintenance (PPM) checks.
• Fault-finding on mechanical and basic electrical systems.
• Working closely with production teams to minimise downtime.
• Completing maintenance paperwork and PPM sheets.
• Identifying recurring faults and implementing corrective actions.
• Supporting continuous improvement and 5S activities.
• Maintaining a clean, safe, and organised workshop.
