Job summary

Know How Resourcing is seeking a skilled Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer to join our established maintenance team in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. You will carry out PPM, respond to breakdowns, perform mechanical and basic electrical maintenance, fault finding on gearboxes, conveyors, bearings and rotating equipment, and support continuous improvement to maximise uptime.

The ideal candidate will hold NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Mechanical, Electrical or Multi-Skilled Engineering,

Qualifications

NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Mechanical, Electrical or Multi-Skilled Engineering.
Minimum four years' industrial maintenance experience in manufacturing.
Experience with planned preventive maintenance (PPM) and fault finding on production machinery.
Strong mechanical fault-finding skills including gearboxes, conveyors, bearings and rotating equipment.
Understanding of pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
Experience using CMMS.
Excellent problem-solving and the ability to work independently.
Good communication and teamwork with contractors and service engineers.
Willingness to mentor apprentices and cover shifts as needed.

Responsibilities

Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) in line with the maintenance schedule.
Respond to machine breakdowns, diagnose faults and repair to minimise downtime.
Perform mechanical and basic electrical maintenance on production plant and machinery.
Fault find and repair mechanical systems including gearboxes, bearings and rotating equipment.
Diagnose and repair pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
Collaborate with on-site contractors and remote service engineers during maintenance activities.
Record maintenance activities, breakdown reports and completed work using CMMS.
Monitor stock levels of critical spare parts to support production.
Assist with equipment installations, upgrades and continuous improvement projects.
Mentor apprentices and promote engineering best practices.
Ensure work follows Health & Safety policies and engineering standards.
Contribute to improving equipment reliability, efficiency and overall manufacturing performance.

We are seeking a skilled and proactive Multi‑Skilled Maintenance Engineer to join our established maintenance team. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced engineer with a strong background in machine maintenance, fault finding, planned preventative maintenance (PPM), and continuous improvement to develop their career within a fast‑paced manufacturing environment.

As a key member of the engineering team, you will play a vital role in ensuring production equipment operates safely, efficiently, and reliably. You will be responsible for maintaining a wide range of plant machinery and equipment, responding to breakdowns, and supporting continuous improvements to maximise equipment uptime and operational performance.

Key Responsibilities

Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) in line with the maintenance schedule.
Respond promptly to machine breakdowns, diagnosing faults and carrying out effective repairs to minimise downtime.
Perform mechanical and basic electrical maintenance on production plant and machinery.
Fault find and repair mechanical systems including gearboxes, bearings, drives and associated equipment.
Diagnose and repair pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
Work collaboratively with on‑site contractors and remote service engineers during maintenance activities and equipment installations.
Accurately record maintenance activities, breakdown reports and completed work using the CMMS (Computerised Maintenance Management System).
Monitor and maintain stock levels of critical spare parts, ensuring availability to support production.
Assist with equipment installations, upgrades and continuous improvement projects.
Mentor and support engineering apprentices, sharing knowledge and promoting engineering best practice.
Ensure all work is carried out in accordance with company Health & Safety policies and engineering standards.
Contribute to improving equipment reliability, efficiency and overall manufacturing performance.

This is a hands‑on role suited to someone who enjoys solving technical problems, working as part of a close‑knit engineering team, and making a real impact on production performance.

About You

A recognised engineering qualification, such as NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Mechanical, Electrical or Multi‑Skilled Engineering.
A minimum of four years' industrial maintenance experience within a manufacturing or production environment.
Experience carrying out planned preventative maintenance (PPM), reactive maintenance and fault finding on production machinery.
Strong mechanical fault‑finding skills with a good understanding of gearboxes, conveyors, bearings and rotating equipment.
A sound understanding of pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
Experience using Computerised Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
Excellent problem‑solving skills with the ability to work independently and use your own initiative.
Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively with colleagues, contractors and external service engineers.
A proactive approach with a strong commitment to safety, quality and continuous improvement.
A willingness to mentor apprentices and support the development of less experienced team members.
Flexibility to work overtime when required to support production, planned shutdowns and departmental holiday or sickness cover.
