Job summary

Pioneer Selection Ltd is seeking a mechanically biased Maintenance Engineer for a 3‑month FTC in Newton-le-Willows. You will perform planned and reactive maintenance across heavy manufacturing equipment, focusing on mechanical fault finding and breakdown repairs.

The role involves hydraulics, pneumatics, gearboxes and conveyors, with opportunities to contribute to continuous improvement and reliability projects to reduce downtime. Days shift and a competitive package.

Qualifications

• Strong mechanical maintenance experience within an industrial, manufacturing or processing environment.
• Mechanical fault‑finding and breakdown repair skills.
• Experience with PPM and reactive maintenance.
• Engineering qualification in a relevant mechanical discipline.

Responsibilities

• Carry out planned and reactive maintenance across heavy manufacturing machinery.
• Support machinery upgrades, installations and continuous improvement projects.
• Contribute to reliability improvements to minimise downtime.
• Collaborate with the engineering team and work independently when required.

Salary: £30 - £35 per hour

I’m working with a growing manufacturer looking to recruit a mechanically biased Maintenance Engineer to join their engineering team. you’ll be responsible for planned and reactive maintenance across heavy manufacturing machinery, focusing on mechanical fault finding, breakdowns, repairs, hydraulics, pneumatics, gearboxes, bearings and conveyors. you’ll also support machinery upgrades, installations and continuous improvement projects to improve reliability and minimise downtime.
