Job summary

Yolk Recruitment Ltd is recruiting for a Maintenance Engineer (mechanical or electrical) in Poole, Dorset. This role operates on a continental shift (days and nights) with a salary circa £52,000‑£54,000 per year.

The successful candidate will work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment, carrying out planned maintenance, fault-finding, and improvements to ensure production runs smoothly across electrical and mechanical systems.

Qualifications

• Proven maintenance experience in a manufacturing setting.
• Strong electrical and/or mechanical fault-finding skills.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
• Familiarity with PLC-controlled machinery (Siemens/Allen-Bradley).
• Qualified apprentice trained with NVQ Level 3 or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Carry out planned preventative maintenance to minimise downtime.
• Respond to breakdowns and perform fault-finding across systems.
• Use CMMS to record work, manage assets and plan routines.
• Support continuous improvement projects to boost reliability.
• Collaborate with the team to maintain a proactive engineering culture.

• Working closely with the wider team to promote a positive, proactive engineering culture.
  

What you'll need:

• Proven experience as a maintenance engineer within a manufacturing environment.

• Strong electrical and/or mechanical fault-finding skills.

• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and schematics.

• Familiarity with PLC-controlled and automated machinery (Siemens, Allen Bradley, or similar).

• Relevant engineering qualifications (apprentice trained, NVQ Level 3 or equivalent).

• A team player with excellent problem-solving skills and a hands-on approach.
