Job summary

Edge Recruits is seeking a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer for a Plymouth-based manufacturing site. The role involves working on varied shift patterns to ensure reliability and safety of plant assets, with a focus on preventative maintenance and fault finding.

The position offers training and development within a safety-focused environment. It is a permanent, full-time role with 37.5 hours per week, on-site.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as Mechanical Maintenance Engineer in manufacturing/industrial environment.
• Strong mechanical fault-finding skills.
• Experience with preventative maintenance systems and breakdown repair.

• Capable of working under pressure and handling unplanned issues.

Mechanical Maintenance Engineer

Location: Plymouth (on-site)

Salary: £44,000 per annum

Employment Type: Permanent

Hours: Full Time - 37.5 hours / varied shift pattern

Our client, a leading manufacturing business in Plymouth, is seeking a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer to join their team. This role involves working on varied shift patterns to ensure the reliability and safety of manufacturing assets. The Role

• Adhere to company rules, health and safety, and environmental standards.
• Perform preventative planned maintenance tasks to ensure asset safety and reliability.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

Essential Experience

• Proven experience as a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer within a manufacturing, industrial, or production environment

Essential Skills and Competencies

• Strong mechanical fault-finding skills
• Competent at using preventative maintenance systems and performing breakdown repairs
• Good understanding of and proactive engagement in health and safety requirements
• Capable of working under pressure and responding effectively to unplanned issues
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• Able to undertake shift work, including back shift, night shifts, weekends, and bank holidays
• Competent in wearing personal protective equipment, including hearing protection, gloves, hard hat, safety shoes, and safety glasses
• Ability to pass a drug and alcohol test as well as a company medical
• Knowledge and understanding of 5s and lean manufacturing techniques
• Competent at the use of IT software, such as Microsoft

Desirable Qualifications and Skills

• Time served in a mechanically biased maintenance engineering role within a manufacturing environment
• Basic knowledge of PLC control systems
• Multi-skilled engineering experience
• Qualified in IEE Regulations (18th edition)
