Position: Mechanical Maintenance Engineer

Secondary title: HVAC Engineer

Location: East Manchester / West Yorkshire

Type: Permanent

Hours: Mon-Fri 40 hours per week plus overtime

Salary: £42,000 – £45,000 PA

We are recruiting for a Building Services Mechanical Maintenance Engineer to work within a mobile team in providing maintenance and repairs to mechanical/HVAC plant room.

The role is a permanent position paying £42,000-45,000. Mon-Fri 40 hours per week days. Circa 08:00-16:30. Overtime paid at premium. On call 1 in 6 (£150 standby payment). Van supplied with personal use. Half an hour each way. Flexibility around working times. 25 days holiday plus stat.

Responsibilities
  • To undertake a proactive role in carrying out maintenance, repairs and inspection of mechanical and general HVAC building services, in accordance with relevant standards and operational procedures and in compliance with legislation and guidance.
  • Plant and duties may include AHUs, FCUs, pumps, valves, venting, pipework, boiler room, compressors, pressure systems, commercial plumbing, water feeds, water hygiene systems and heating pipework.
  • Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) on mechanical and associated building services in accordance with the PPM programme and personal competence and training.
  • Respond in a timely manner to ad-hoc breakdown requests as identified by supervisor/manager or as a minimum, as per site contract.
  • Assist in carrying out installation work involved in minor upgrading and adaptation works.
  • Assist in carrying out systematic fault finding in a logical and safe manner on malfunctioning equipment.
  • Carry out duties in accordance with safe working practices within statutory and Company guidelines.
  • Safely operate all types of access equipment, hand and power tools in accordance with health & safety and manufacturers’ guidelines.
  • Ensure the correct use of personal protective equipment and adherence to health & safety and infection control procedures.
  • Maintain records as and when appropriate and as required, whether written or electronic.
  • Willingness to assist and work flexibly with other trades/colleagues.
  • After a qualifying period take part in the callout/standby rota.
  • Undertake training where necessary to learn other skills and to maintain and develop the requirements of the service.
  • Carry out risk assessments on-site as instructed by supervisor/manager.
  • Diligently complete all required job cards and other work-related paperwork to the required standard.
  • Complete work within the allotted timeframes.
Qualifications and Required Experience
  • Previously worked within a maintenance environment.
  • NVQ / C&G in a Mechanical Bias Engineering discipline.
  • Experience of working on or with AHUs, FCUs, LTHW, Pumps, Pipework, Valves, Chilled and Portable Water Systems and Water Hygiene Systems, venting etc.
  • PPM & Reactive Work.
  • Ideally former Authorised Person Mechanical Systems (or a desire to reach this).
  • Work on Plumbing Systems.
  • Valid driving license.
