Starkey Recruitment Group is seeking a skilled Mechanical Maintenance Engineer for a high‑output manufacturing site in Cannock. You will keep plant and equipment operating safely and efficiently, with a focus on planned maintenance and quick fault finding.

The role offers days-only shifts on a 4 on/4 off pattern, 12‑hour shifts with a paid lunch, and a strong benefits package including overtime premiums and a Christmas bonus. Overtime is regular and rewarded.

Formación

• Apprenticeship completed with recognized engineering qualifications.
• Strong hydraulics and pneumatics experience.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.

Responsabilidades

• Carry out daily, weekly, and monthly inspections & planned maintenance.
• Respond quickly to mechanical breakdowns and faults.
• Record parts usage and manage stores stock levels.
• Support installation of new equipment and training of apprentices.
• Participate in call-out cover when required.

The Role

Reporting to the Departmental Engineer, you will play a key role in keeping plant and equipment operating safely and efficiently.

Key Responsibilities:

• Carry out daily, weekly, and monthly inspections & planned maintenance
• Respond quickly to mechanical breakdowns
• Fault-find using hydraulic and pneumatic drawings
• Record parts usage to maintain accurate stores stock levels
• Assist with root cause analysis and implement corrective actions
• Carry out plant modifications in line with regulations
• Support installation of new equipment
• Assist with training and mentoring apprentices
• Participate in call‑out cover when required
• Work reasonable overtime during peak demand

What We’re Looking For

Essential:

• Time-served apprenticeship
• C&G Part 3 or ONC / HNC
• Strong experience with hydraulics & pneumatics
• Knowledge of motors & drives (gear motors, reduction gearboxes, overhead cranes)
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
• Comfortable working independently or as part of a team

Desirable (but not essential):

• Foundry or heavy manufacturing experience
• Banksman certification
• FLT / access equipment training
• Experience using lathes, milling machines, grinders
