Job summary

TechNichols Resourcing Ltd is seeking a Mechanical Maintenance Fitter to perform planned preventive maintenance on a range of equipment. You will troubleshoot and repair breakdowns, carry out diagnostics, and support shutdowns within a production environment.

The role requires completion of a recognised mechanical engineering apprenticeship and experience in industrial settings. You should be motivated, willing to upskill, and able to work a continental shift pattern in the UK.

Qualifications

• Completed a recognised Mechanical Engineering Apprenticeship or holds Mechanical Engineering qualifications.
• Experience in a similar industrial, production or manufacturing environment.
• Maintenance experience dealing with machinery and equipment problems and breakdowns and/or completing preventive maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Planned preventive maintenance across a range of equipment and machinery.
• Deal with machinery breakdowns and problems, fault finding, diagnostics and repairs.
• Assist with planned shutdowns and project work, refurbishing machines and replacing worn parts.
• Assist hands-on in other areas of the factory when needed.

Role

Mechanical Maintenance Fitter / Mechanical Fitter

Salary and Benefits

£48,000 to £49,000 per annum, paid overtime, benefits, and opportunities for progression.

Hours

2 weeks of Days (6:00am to 5:30pm) then 2 weeks of Nights (6:00pm to 5:30am) on a continental shift pattern (working 7 out of every 14 days).

Location

Commute from Durham, Darlington, Stockton‑on‑Tees, Middlesbrough, Hartlepool, Sunderland and surrounding areas.

Responsibilities

• Planned preventive maintenance across a range of equipment and machinery.
• Deal with machinery breakdowns and problems, fault finding, diagnostics and repairs.
• Assist with planned shutdowns and project work, refurbishing machines and replacing worn parts.
• Assist hands‑on in other areas of the factory when needed.

Requirements

• Completed a recognised Mechanical Engineering Apprenticeship or hold Mechanical Engineering qualifications.
• Experience in a similar environment; industrial, production or manufacturing environments.
• Maintenance experience dealing with machinery and equipment problems and breakdowns and/or completing preventive maintenance of plant/industrial machinery.
• Experience of some of the following: belts, chains, gear boxes, pumps, bearings, hydraulics, pneumatics, welding and fabricating.
• Motivated and driven to succeed.
• Willing to take on further training as part of growth and development.
