Job summary

Theo James Recruitment is seeking a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer in Hartlepool to join a safety-focused engineering team committed to reliability, continuous improvement and high standards of workmanship.

You will perform planned and corrective maintenance on key plant equipment, use diagnostic techniques to resolve faults, log downtime for root-cause analysis, and collaborate with production to drive improvements in machine availability, efficiency and safety across rotating shifts.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in a production maintenance environment.
• Time served maintenance apprenticeship at minimum.
• Knowledge of maintenance techniques and diagnostics.

Responsibilities

• Executing reactive, corrective, and planned maintenance activities.
• Using maintenance systems to log and analyse downtime for root cause analysis.
• Collaborating with production teams to identify safety and efficiency opportunities.
• Maintaining and updating all documentation related to machinery and tasks.
• Be able to problem solve procession issues and breakdowns
• Investigate and troubleshoot upon maintenance problems and provide correct action and advice.

Job Title: Mechanical Maintenance Engineer

Location: Hartlepool

Salary Circa: £52,000 PA

Benefits

Working Hours

• 3 shift pattern (37.5 hours/week)
• 6:00 AM - 2:00 PM (Mon-Thurs), 6:00 AM - 11:30 AM (Fri)
• 2:00 PM - 10:00 PM (Mon-Thurs), 11:30 AM - 5:00 PM (Fri)
• 10:00 PM - 06:00 AM (Mon-Thurs), 5:00 PM - 22:30 PM (Fri)
• Contractual overtime: 1 weekend in 4, Saturday & Sunday (6:00 AM - 2:00 PM)

Job Description

As an Engineering Technician, you'll play a vital role in maintaining the efficiency and reliability of our equipment. Your core responsibilities include performing planned and corrective maintenance tasks, ensuring unplanned downtime is minimized, and contributing to the improvement of machine performance. Skills & Experience

• Proven experience in a similar Engineering Technician role. 5 years minimum ideally within a production maintenance industry.
• Time Served maintenance apprenticeship - as a minimum.
• Strong knowledge of maintenance techniques and diagnostics.
• Ability to analyse data and implement effective solutions.
• Proactive mindset with excellent problem-solving skills.
• Commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
• Knowledge of steam and compressed air systems (desired)
