Job summary

Coventry University Group is seeking an experienced Contractor Controller (Mechanical) to join our Estates Team. You will supervise and coordinate mechanical maintenance across the Group's estate, ensuring planned and reactive works are delivered safely, compliantly and to a high standard.

The role covers multiple Coventry University Group locations, including Coventry, Scarborough, Milton Keynes, Central London and Dagenham, so travel and occasional overnight stays will be required.

Qualifications

• Relevant mechanical/building services qualification such as NVQ, City & Guilds or HNC, or equivalent experience.
• Strong mechanical building services knowledge.
• Experience supervising contractors and managing RAMS and permit-to-work processes.
• Knowledge of mechanical compliance and safe systems of work.
• Experience with CAFM systems would be advantageous.
• Excellent communication, organisation and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate planned, reactive and statutory mechanical maintenance.
• Manage contractor performance, KPIs and service levels.
• Review RAMS and permits to work and audit workmanship.
• Support mechanical compliance, inspections and testing.
• Provide technical guidance on mechanical building services, including HVAC, pumps, plant rooms and water systems.
• Use Planon CAFM system to coordinate works and maintain records.
• Liaise with contractors, technical teams and University stakeholders.
• Support continuous improvement across the Estates service.
