Job Description:

Description: Responsible for ensuring that equipment and machinery are assembled to a high standard within expected timelines. Support the team in providing an exceptional customer experience by achieving operational excellence goals such as on-time shipments, zero warranty issues, and successful start-ups at customer facilities. Promote continuous improvement, teamwork, and act in line with company policies and values.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
  1. Read and analyze assembly drawings, bills of material, and specifications to plan machine build operations.
  2. Fit and assemble components according to specifications, using correct tools and recognized engineering methods, verifying parts conformance.
  3. Communicate build and documentation issues to leadership and engineering teams.
  4. Mark all fasteners and sign worksheets to confirm torque and quality checks.
  5. Support internal and customer pre-delivery inspections.
  6. Debug assemblies and machines by identifying and correcting operational problems.
  7. Dismantle equipment and assist with packing and loading as required.
  8. Ensure time is booked to the relevant manufacturing order.
  9. Provide training and support to apprentices and team members to enhance skills and knowledge.
  10. Identify process and product improvements using Lean tools.
  11. Maintain a clean and organized work environment, free from hazards.
  12. Comply with health and safety legislation and company policies.
  13. Always wear required PPE in assembly areas.
  14. Be flexible to work overtime evenings and weekends when necessary.

Qualifications, Experience & Competencies:
Qualifications/Experience:
  • Completion of a recognized engineering apprenticeship.
  • Preferably qualified to ONC/HNC in mechanical engineering.
  • Minimum of 3 years experience in machine building and setup in manufacturing.
  • Experience in the packaging industry with emphasis on machine build is preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
  • Ability to read and understand drawings and specifications.
  • Operate machine tools such as milling machines and lathes.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Work independently to complete tasks on time.
  • Troubleshoot and solve problems effectively.
  • Responsible and punctual with good appearance.
  • Adaptable to change, delays, or unexpected events.
