Job Title: Manufacturing Machine Operator

- Salary & Benefits: £35 – 40k plus premium overtime, healthcare, bonus
- Working Pattern: Continental shift pattern with 18 days off per rotation — lots of time off!
Role Overview
Responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of production lines within a factory environment, combining machine operation, technical troubleshooting, and process improvement to maintain efficiency, quality, and safety.
Your Responsibilities
- Maintain, operate, and improve manufacturing processes
- Perform machine changeovers and tooling adjustments
- Drive OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness) and production performance
- Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and operational procedures
- Contribute to a culture of continuous improvement
- Operate machinery that processes, converts, and manufactures materials
- Run automated or semi-automated machines
- Adjust machine settings to ensure product quality
- Monitor performance to ensure smooth operation
- Diagnose and fix minor mechanical or technical faults
- Report complex issues to the engineering team
- Manage line changeovers and setups
- Switch production lines for different products, adjusting tooling and settings accordingly
- Ensure minimal downtime and maximum efficiency
- Inspect finished products for defects
Candidate Requirements & Skills
- Experience in a fast-paced production or manufacturing environment (e.g., manufacturing, automotive, chemicals)
- Strong mechanical aptitude and hands-on experience with machines and equipment
- Problem-solving skills and ability to thrive in a dynamic environment
- NVQ Level 2 or equivalent in engineering/mechanics is advantageous
- Mechanically minded with a passion for hands-on work
- Ability to think quickly and adapt
- Excellent communication skills for collaborating with operators, engineers, and supervisors
