Job summary

Carmichael & Baxter is seeking a Mechanical & Electrical Engineering Apprentice to develop expertise in fuel systems, mechanical maintenance and engineering at our Cupar site. The role blends mechanical development with electrical exposure, emphasising inspection, servicing and fault-finding of fuel equipment.

You will train through a formal apprenticeship while gaining practical experience, supported by experienced engineers.

Qualifications

• Interest in pursuing a career in mechanical engineering and maintenance.
• Willingness to complete the required apprenticeship training.
• Ability to meet the eligibility requirements for the apprenticeship programme.

Responsibilities

• Carry out routine inspection, servicing and preventative maintenance of fuel systems and associated equipment.
• Assist with installation, maintenance and repair of fuel storage, transfer and dispensing systems.
• Work with pumps, valves, pipework, hoses, filters and meters.
• Learn to identify mechanical faults and assist with fault-finding and repairs.
• Read mechanical drawings and technical documentation.
• Support planned and preventative maintenance programmes.
• Develop understanding of electrical controls within fuel systems.
• Assist with electrical maintenance activities within your training level.
