Job summary

Saab UK in Fareham is seeking a Mechanical Fitter to assemble a range of mechanical assemblies to drawing specifications, following engineering drawings and work instructions. You will assemble Tether Management Systems and ROV chassis, bolt and align heavy sub-assemblies, route hydraulic hoses, secure wire harnesses and support R&D, trials and product improvements.

Occasional work at test locations or customer sites may be required, working within a small multidisciplinary team and using

Qualifications

• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and work instructions.
• Proficient with hand and workshop tools used in mechanical assembly.
• Some milling and turning experience would be beneficial.
• Basic electrical assembly and testing knowledge with proper training.
• Maintain high standards of 6S, housekeeping and workplace organisation.
• Effective time management and basic IT system literacy.

Responsibilities

• Assemble large Tether Management Systems and ROV chassis per drawings and work instructions.
• Bolt and align heavy sub-assemblies; install mechanical components and hardware.
• Route hydraulic hoses and pneumatic lines; secure wire harnesses and cables.
• Support R&D activities, prototype builds, trials and product improvements.
• May work outside the factory at test locations or customer sites when required.
• Work independently and in a small multidisciplinary team; apply practical judgement.
