Job summary

Imerys in Stoke-on-Trent is seeking a Mechanical Fitter to maintain, repair, and improve mechanical plant and equipment across the site. You will work within an experienced engineering team to perform planned maintenance, fault finding and continuous improvement initiatives to maximise reliability and performance.

The role involves maintaining ABS and PVC pipework systems, servicing pumps and conveyors, and ensuring all activities comply with health and safety procedures.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 3 or apprenticeship in Mechanical Engineering.
• Experience in manufacturing, processing, quarrying or heavy industrial environments.
• Strong mechanical maintenance and fault-finding experience.
• Experience maintaining pumps, conveyors, pipework systems and related plant equipment.
• Ability to read engineering drawings and technical documentation.

Responsibilities

• Carry out planned preventative maintenance on mechanical plant and equipment.
• Diagnose mechanical faults and complete breakdown repairs to minimise downtime.
• Maintain and repair industrial ABS and PVC pipework systems.
• Service pumps, conveyors, valves, bearings, gearboxes and drive systems.
• Interpret engineering drawings and technical documentation to complete work accurately.
• Support shutdowns, equipment installations and continuous improvement projects.
• Record maintenance activities and report equipment issues effectively.
• Work safely in accordance with site health and safety procedures.
